Shadow Stamping
Shadow stamping is a fast, easy way to stamp. The cards are
simple, but can be elegant and whimsical! You can create your own shadow stamps,
or use the large variety of shadow stamps offered by Hero Arts and and Embossing
Arts. There are many other companies who offer great shadow stamps. The samples
I have to show here use stamps from Hero Arts and a couple I made myself.
To make your own shadow stamps:
Materials needed:
Fun Foam
Decorative or straight scissors
Wood or acrylic blocks
Tacky glue or removable adhesive tape
1) Cut a desired shape out of the Fun Foam.
2) Add the adhesive of your choice to the back of the fun foam piece. (You can
also get Fun Foam with an adhesive backing.)
Stamping with Shadow Images:
There is no special technique to stamping with shadow images. You simply
stamp your shadow image on your cardstock as desired. Then stamp the images you
want for your focal points on top of the shadows.
Shadows are best stamped in very light colors. I prefer using the Versacolor
cubes. They coat the image evenly and produce a light colored shadow. There are
also ink pads made specifically for shadow stamping by Memories. The Sea Shells
stamp pads are perfect for pale shadows also. You will want to stamp your main
images with darker, coordinating colors.
You can use a variety of sizes of shadows on your cardstock for a collage type
look.
The possibilities are endless. Experiment and have fun.
